Heart of Yoga.

Everything that exists within the natural world is involved in a relationship of interdependency. Our survival depends on our unending embrace of and connection to each other. When two people say to each other, “You are my power,” the current of life is free to flow endlessly between them. Sexual empowerment lies in getting in touch with your body and discovering this in your own way. By acknowledging your mutuality with each other and recognizing the source of your peace and power, you can begin to move in an infinitely positive and healing direction.

Practice can be viewed as a movement/observation of gross to subtle or outer to inner. We assign no qualitative or preferential implication to any direction. That is, all qualities are acceptable and relevant. Just so, yoga practice can be described as the union of right to left, above and below, front and back, male and female, knower and known, inner and outer, consciousness and energy, or their associated cultural description such as Shiva and Shakti without one aspect dominating or given preference. All are present and all are required.

“A yogi is genderless, or both genders are completely present in perfect union as his or her form. Yoga lifts away the mind that restricts Life’s male/female polarity, strength that receives, within and without.”

from The Hridayayogasutra, Yoga of Heart: The Healing Power of Intimate Connection

Mark Whitwell

Yoga practice throws out of your system all the patterned roles, patterned limits, patterned beliefs, patterned behaviors of your societies and leaves you as he already are… the power of the cosmos arising in vast intelligence / beauty in life’s polarities of strength that is utterly receptive.

It leaves you in a state of no conflict with your self and therefore paradoxically, no conflict with society… in no way dissociated from any thing at all, apparently good or bad, tangible and intangible conditions of reality… The giving and receiving that creates life and is life is revealed to you as the source and purpose of mind. (The mind arising from the heart, which is the whole body. The heart arising from and formed from and as the grand polarities of female male union in same sex and opposite sex intimacy and all gender identification, or non). You discover that the body of course duplicates the grand spherical unfolding of the ceaseless unspeakable cosmic domain, in the flow of the heart. And leaves you to work in the trenches, not hanging back, in the front line to help the suffering.

You understand what Yoga is only by seeing a Yogi or Yogini. This is how Yoga is transmitted through the ages.
